HOW TO GET STARTED

PREP YOUR WORKSPACE

  • Open up your kit and pull everything out. Your kit should include, iron on patches, a piece of parchment paper (do not throw away), and an instruction card!

  • Find a flat space to work that is iron safe! We suggest using an ironing board. Make sure you have enough cord length on your iron to be able to move your iron around.

  • Plug in your iron and let it start heating to the hottest setting, or 350 degrees, you want to make sure it is up to the correct temperature when you’re ready to begin ironing on!

PREP YOUR DENIM

  • Unbutton your jacket and lay it completely flat. Pull the arms and front of the jacket out to the sides and make sure there are no creases or bumps in the fabric, this will give you the best results.

  • If you chose another denim item, just make sure it is spread flat, you don’t want any creases under the patch.

  • Place your patches on your item to get an idea of where you’d like it, once you’re happy with the spot you’ve chose, it’s time to adhere the patch(es)!

LET’S IRON ON!

Watch the video tutorial below all the way through before you begin!

ADDING YOUR PATCHES

  • Heat your iron to the hottest setting. This should be around 350 degrees.

  • On your flat jacket/item, iron the spot you’ll be adding your patch for 3-5 seconds to warm the fabric and get it nice and flat for the patch.

  • Make sure you place the patch exact where you want it. Once it has been ironed on, you will not be able to move it!

  • Place the patch glue side down on the item you’re attaching it to. Place the parchment paper that was included with your kit over the patch, this will keep the stitching from burning.

  • Rub the hot iron over the parchment paper for 25-30 seconds to adhere the patch. Make sure you apply a decent amount of pressure and go all the way around the edges to really get it secured.

  • Now, flip your item over, move the parchment paper to the back side of the garment and iron the patch from the back side. This will make sure the glue has been heated all the way through and is able to set well.

  • At this point, we like to let the patch rest for 3-5 minutes before making sure it is set so that the glue has time to dry. After the 3-5 minutes, lightly pull around the edges of the patch to make sure it is adhered. If any areas lift up, repeat the ironing on process in that area. Don’t forget to use the parchment paper!

AFTER CARE

  • Spot treat only! This jacket cannot go in the washer or dryer, it will ruin all of the beautiful patches you added!

  • We recommend mixing a 4:1 ratio of water to laundry soap to spot treat. Use a dark or light wash cloth (depending on your jacket color) to lightly rub the spot that needs cleaning.

  • Air dry any spot treatments.
